Getting started

Signing up

1. Open the app and tap Sign in.
2. Type your email address.
3. Check your inbox for a magic-link email. Tap the link, then tap Continue to sign in on the page that opens.
4. You’re now signed in. If this is your first time, the onboarding wizard appears.

If the email doesn’t arrive within a minute, check your spam folder. If still nothing, try again with the exact email address you used to sign up — the app won’t tell you whether an address is registered or not (this is intentional and protects your privacy).

If a colleague invited you, it’s even shorter: open the invite link from your email, pick your specialty, and you’re signed straight into the onboarding wizard — no separate sign-in email. See Inviting colleagues.

The onboarding wizard

The wizard takes about two minutes. You’ll be asked for:

1. Your name — the way you’d sign a chart.
2. Your specialty — pick one. This tunes the procedure list to your field.
3. Your primary hospital — start typing its short name and pick the match from the list (the full name shows underneath so you choose the right branch); if it isn’t there yet, add it and we’ll create it for you. You can add more later. If your posting is abroad, you can switch the country and pick a hospital there — the app simply starts from where you are.
4. Set up voice dictation — optional, but worth it. Tap Enable and the app asks for the microphone and gets voice ready now, so your first dictation starts in a tap instead of waiting at the moment you want to speak. If you’re set up for high-accuracy cloud transcription there’s nothing to download — it just grants the microphone; otherwise the app downloads a one-time voice pack (~58 MB) with a progress bar, and it tells you up front so you can wait for wi-fi if you’re on cellular. Prefer to deal with it later? Tap Skip — dictation still works whenever you tap the mic, it just sets itself up on that first tap.
5. A recovery phone number — optional.
6. A backup password — type it twice. This step matters most. Read Your backup password before you pick one.
7. Biometric unlock — enrol Face ID or fingerprint if you want fast daily unlocking. Recommended.
8. Finish — your account is ready.

You land on an empty case list. Time to capture your first case.

Capturing your first case

The fastest path:

1. Tap Capture in the bottom navigation.
2. Type the patient’s name and MRN at the top of the form.
3. Tap the microphone next to the Notes box.
4. Dictate the case in one breath: “TKR right knee for OA, 65-year-old, uneventful, cemented, primary surgeon.”
5. The recording stops automatically after three seconds of silence. (Or tap Stop.)
6. Tap Capture.

The case appears on your case list immediately. Within a few seconds, the procedure, side, and your role are filled in automatically from your notes. If something is unclear, the app asks you a follow-up question on the case page — answer it there.

Your patients’ names, their hospital numbers (MRNs), and your earnings are scrambled on your phone with your backup password before they ever leave it — the team running the app only ever sees unreadable bytes, never the real values. More on this: Where your data lives.

What to check after your first case

• Open Settings → Backup. The card should say Backed up · just now. If it says Never, tap Sync now.
• Open Settings → Security. If you skipped biometric during onboarding, turn it on now.
• Open Settings → Profile any time to change how your name, title (Dr/Mr/Ms), and specialty appear. If the app’s default doesn’t sound like you, fill in “How should we address you?” — whatever you write there is used, word for word, everywhere the app addresses you.
